If you want to upgrade your rooted Nexus 4 to Android Jelly Bean 4.3, but want to keep your root and LTE capabilities, simply do the following...
* Download a copy of the 0.48 version of the Nexus 4 radio and copy it to your sdcard. Links to download the radio images are at [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087227 xda].
* Make sure you have a copy of version of the 0.33 radio as well. You'll need to flash it back to this version after the update.
* Make sure you have a copy of the SU/root image that will restore your root access after the update.

 * The Android update will mostlikely render your recovery image inoperable. It is possible to try to update the recovery image using Clockworkmod. I ended up downloading the openrecovery image. You can also download the appropriate image from the [http://clockworkmod.com/rommanager cwm site].
 Everything ready? Before doing anything, boot into recovery and do a nandoid backup.

-Backup complete and copied somewhere other than your phone? Go ahead and install the update. Once the update completes, and your phone reboots, hold the volume down button and power button to get into the boot manager screen. Select recovery and see if you can get into recovery.
+Backup complete and copied somewhere other than your phone? Go ahead and try to install the update. The update may fail due to the md5 checksum on your radio. If this happens, boot into recovery and install the 0.48 version of the radio and try again.

 If you can, good for you! Go into recovery and browse your sdcard for the SuperSU zip and flash/install it. This should restore your root access. Once that's done, flash/install the 0.33 radio to restore your 4G capability.
