Configuring Software - CD/DVD/ISO Burning

Nero is currently the most widely used a feature-rich burning suite available. However, it is not free, so in order to use nero you will have to purchase a license. The cost is 10 dollars. For a lifetime of using this great software it is certainly worth it: I purchased one. It is one of the only software purchases I have ever made in my life.

In order to emerge nero, you'll have to agree to the license. Use nano to edit the file /etc/portage/package.license and make sure the following directive is set:

app-cdr/nero Nero-EULA-US

In order to emerge nero, you'll need to download the rpm package from the vendor and place it in /usr/portage/distfiles. When that's done, emerge nero.

$ sudo emerge -av nero

You will be prompted to enter your serial number when you run the software. No, I am not giving you my license key.

There are other burning solutions that may be an effective solution if you're not willing to fork out the license fee for Nero. Some alternatives include gnomebaker and graveman. Feel free to search portage for options.
